The former site of the Western Overseas Chinese Concentration camp in Weixian County (the site of East China University) was successfully included in the second batch of Shandong Revolutionary Cultura

Recently, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced the second batch of Shandong revolutionary cultural relics list, including 143 immovable revolutionary cultural relics and 16,200 pieces/sets of movable revolutionary cultural relics. The former site of the Western Overseas Chinese concentration camp in Weicounty (the former site of East China University) was successfully included in the second batch of Shandong revolutionary cultural relics List (the immovable category).

In the summer of 1948, East China University was first established in Ledao College, Weixian County, Weifang City, Shandong Province, with Wei Que as president and Zhang Bochuan and Li Yuchao as vice presidents. At the end of the same year, East China University moved to Jinan and then to Qingdao at the end of 1950. In March 1951, the university was merged with Shandong University and its establishment was abolished.

East China University has been in existence for less than 3 years and has only been in Weifang for 7 months. However, in a short period of time, it trained more than 4,000 revolutionary cadres and gave strong support to the People's Liberation War. These cadres later became the backbone of the construction of New China. East China University has also left a glorious chapter in the history of Ledao Academy.

In the next step, Ledaoyuanwei Concentration Camp Museum will be guided by the Party's 20 spirit, give full play to the role of the national patriotic education demonstration base, and strive to tell the red story, the revolutionary story, so that the red gene will be passed down from generation to generation.
