Weifang Creates the "Capital of East Asian Culture" | Aesthetic Education in Intangible Cultural Heritage - Xiaozhang Zhuma

Xiaozhang Bamboo Horse originated from the ancient children's games. As early as the Eastern Han Dynasty, in the ancient five character poem Children's Poem, there was a description of "tender bamboo riding as a horse, and new Pu as a whip". Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty also wrote a poem, "Lang rode a bamboo horse to get green plum around the bed". Around the Song Dynasty, the running bamboo horse gradually became a dance form of folk social fire. Compared with the performance forms all over the country, the running bamboo horse of the Ma family in Xixiaozhang Village, Changyi City has a long history, a large cast of actors, and a unique performance form.

Xiao Zhang's bamboo horse performance is a journey in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty when a military general of the Yuan Dynasty was ordered to escort beautiful women to pay tribute. The basic composition of the performance team is: six throwing and rolling horse forks disguised as warriors; Four people play single and double sabres; Four people play with kidnappers, guns and Shaozi sticks; One steel whip and one rope whip; Twenty people played red tassels, followed by horsemen. The cavalry consists of nine men and nine horses. Four men and four women are divided into two teams. In the middle is a general in Yuan Dynasty clothes, riding a yellow hussar behind. Male riders dressed up for ancient soldiers, wore handkerchiefs, wore uniforms with the word "Yong" on their backs, painted pink face masks, held the reins, and wore swords. Female riders wear emerald beads on their heads, red and green satin jackets, and colored skirts on their waists. In front of the team, there is a flag bearer with the word "horse", commonly known as "horse brand". A soldier holding a flag embroidered with the word "dragon" followed the team. At the end of the list are 18 horse guarding martial arts players with wax poles. The whole performance team has more than 80 people, at least 60 people, more than 100 people, with a strong lineup, neat steps, and flying flags, which is very spectacular. The whole bamboo horse performance is complicated, brilliant, fighting, singing and various.
