Delegation of National Cultural Heritage Administration visits Weifang

  On October 15, Gu Yucai, deputy director of National Cultural Heritage Administration, visited Weifang to investigate the protection, management and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.

  The delegation conducted an on-site investigation in the Courtyard of the Happy Way & the Site of Former Weihsien Concentration Camp and listened to a report on the protection and utilization of the sites as well as opinions and suggestions from experts and scholars at a symposium.

  Gu Yucai fully affirmed the achievements Weifang has made in exploring and studying the historical connotation of the Courtyard of the Happy Way & the Former Site of Weihsien Concentration Camp, and in the promotion of the protection and utilization of the cultural relics. He hoped that Weifang city would accelerate the repair, protection, renovation and upgrading of the historical buildings inside the courtyard, strengthen the cultivation of professional talent team, and improve the operation and management level of museums.

  Weifang city should also make full use of the resources of international contacts of the Courtyard of the Happy Way & the Site of Former Weihsien Concentration Camp, enrich its historical materials and expand its influence so as to make it an important window for international communication and cultural exchanges.

  Gu said, the National Cultural Heritage Administration will give strong support to the publicity, protection and inheritance of the site, provide more guarantees for financial input, collection of historical materials, exhibition, and international cooperation, and promote the site to play a bigger role in the mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilization and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
